The start of the series wasn’t an ideal one for Bangladesh as the hosts fell to a 21-run loss in a thrilling first one-day international against England even after having the upper hand for majority of their chase. Bangladesh needed 54 runs from last 10 overs with six wickets in hand but folded out for 288 runs with Jake Ball and Abdul Rashid doing the damage.
Ball, who was making his one-day international debut, took five wickets while Rashid took four wickets to derail Bangladesh. Earlier, Ben Stokes scored his maiden one-day international century to help England post 309 runs on the board. The hosts will look to make it 1-1 in the series by winning the second match in Mirpur.
